Gustavo Dudamel and the simon bolivar orchestra

Gustavo Dudamel and the Simon Bolivar Orchestra of Venezuala, took the world by storm.  Dudamel was the protege of Jose Antonio Abreu and he went on to be the youngest conductor of the Los Angeles Philharmonic where he is to this day.  It is worth noting that the orchestra remained true to it's cultural identity, playing pieces from the traditional classical cannon as well as many works from latin American composers and works in many different styles.

Kidznotes (Durham, Nc)

Since the success of the Venezuelan youth orchestra, Simon Bolivar, many programs have been born around the USA inspired by the South American program.  Many educators such as Katie Wyatt, have studied with Maestros Abreu and Dudamel and our now sharing their knowledge with their students.
