culturally responsive teaching

Forte Strings has a commitment to research based, equitable pedagogy.  Traditionally classical music education and classical music itself have been largely based on euro-centric ideals, until now.  We seek to empower our students to address injustice in any part of their lives by building on skill based competencies (self awareness, empathy, social awareness,...). Our teachers, staff and community will do this in every lesson by modeling these competencies as well as giving students opportunities to develop competencies through real world experience (performances, community outreach, and games.)
